Reaching Wider in a Rural Context – Pipelines to the Future

The North & Mid Wales Reaching Wider Partnership recently hosted a conference at the beautiful Centre for Alternative Technology near Machynlleth.  The event attracted over 80 participants including partnership members from Further and Higher Education, employers from the region, community groups and young people who have benefited from Reaching Wider activities.  Reaching Wider in Mid Wales has the overall aim of raising aspirations in former Community First areas of the region, with the ultimate goal of encouraging pathways into further and higher education.

Conference organiser Helen Thomas said "for many people in rural areas there are a whole range of issues when it comes to considering progression into learning.  This conference helped identify these barriers and the potential pathways which the Partnership can create within communities"

Adrian Ramsay, CEO of CAT said "This was a really important event for rural Wales and we were delighted to be able to host the conference. CAT is committed to improving educational opportunities in Wales and across the UK and we look forward to finding more ways to work with the North & Mid Wales Reaching Wider Partnership to boost participation in education."
