Adults

The Reaching Wider Adult Learning programme exists to raise the educational aspirations of eligible adults across Wales. Many students use the Reaching Wider Adult Learning programme as a springboard into undergraduate study.

Activities

Our programmes are designed to prepare learners academically and emotionally for further study.

Higher education or further learning is for everyone – regardless of age. Every year thousands of adults take the opportunity to develop themselves, and their careers, through higher education or further learning. They make up around a quarter of all full-time undergraduate applicants.

North and Mid Wales

We support learners to increase their skills, knowledge, and confidence, to increase the likelihood of a successful transition to the next phase of the learner’s education journey.

Through our programmes we aim to inspire and increase motivation, retaining learners in education and supporting their transition into higher education and beyond. This will be achieved through a range of activities such as taster days, educational visits, employability skills and aspiration raising activities, and talks from inspirational role models giving an insight into careers and the educational pathways.

South East Wales

Designed around our learners’ needs, the programme is a holistic offer in two parts; Future Me and Pathways. Both elements of the programme combine to develop learners’ confidence and resilience to navigate the challenges of university life by tackling the barriers to entry, progression and success in higher education relevant to people from areas where university participation rates are low.

The programme is delivered by dedicated tutors experienced in working with students from a variety of backgrounds and with different learning experiences and is run at different times of the day to suit the needs of our audiences.
